Review on: MAC - Plush lash mascara in black
::: The Product :::
M.A.C. Plush Lash comes the standard black box, and the tube itself is a matte black measuring about 4.25" in length and 0.75" in width. The company name and product are on two "sides" of the tube, with the mascara color, net weight of the mascara, product batch number and company information on the bottom label. Each tube contains 0.3 oz/11 mL. Unfortunately for some, Plush Lash isn't waterproof, but it is available in two colors: Plushblack and Brownette.
M.A.C. states the following about Plush Lash:"A mascara formulated to instantly plump up lashes for extreme voluptuous effect. Works fast. Builds volume smoothly and evenly from root to tip. Delivers a silky, flexible, full fan of lashes. Fluid formula lightly coats lashes one layer at a time without smearing, smudging or clumping. Goes on via an innovative, specially patented wand with a v-shaped groove that prunes the bristles on one side while leaving the other side full and lush. The short bristles coax the lashes upward to an extraordinarily sophisticated yet flirtatious curl, while the other side separates and combs the lashes root-to-tip creating a long, well-defined glamour lash. Volumizing, lengthening, curling, lifting. This mascara features everything you want, with all the top mascara no’s: no clumping, spiking, smudging or flaking."
::: The Ingredients :::
Unfortunately, I no longer have my box to divulge this tidbit of information. And needless to say, M.A.C. Live Chat Reps cannot give me the information, and want me to contact their Global Consumer Communications to find out! However, as soon as I find out, I'll be sure to edit this section of my review!
::: My Experience :::
As you all know by now, I'm a mascara freak. If the product claims to give me long lashes, then I'm willing to buy it if the price is right (sorry, Dior and Givenchy need not apply for this position!). I had previously tried M.A.C. Fibre Riche Lash after hearing how great it was, but I wasn't overly impressed at all. When I read what Plush Lash was supposed to do for lashes, I immediately called my fave M.A.C. MA (makeup-artist) and asked Chris for his honest opinion. He said it was really good, and that sold me right there! Of course I tried it on my next trip to the sole Macy's who carries M.A.C.
I have to say, it was a bit confusing at first! The brush is basically flat on two sides, with your normal roundness of mascara wants on the other two sides. M.A.C. claims the flat side is really short bristles in a V-shape, but it doesn't seem such to me. I mean, there are some bristles, but I wouldn't consider M.A.C.'s description the best. Anywho! The proper technique is to use the flat side to coat the lashes with mascara, and then using the rounded sides to roll the mascara from root to tip. Yeah, I know! MY technique is to wiggle the brush using the rounded side from root to tips, and then use the flat side to give length. Then, if needed, I use the rounded side again going straight up from root to tip. Confuse you? Sorry, but it's almost hard to explain!
I was a tad on the fence about getting the mascara, so I didn't purchase it right away. I actually got it for my birthday when a friend sent it to me as a present. I fell in love with this as soon as I used it! Perfect for my night out! I'm not too interested in volume, but ILOVElengthANDsoft lashes that don't feel rock hard! This gave me plenty of length with just the right amount of volume. (Something Diorshow claims it can do, but doesn't in my humble opinion) M.A.C. Plush Lash is definitely a staple product of mine, and will always stay in my mascara rotation with the hopes of it never being discontinued. Not only do I have nice long lashes, but I didn't have any clumping, flaking or smudging. Getting Plush Lash off at the end of the night isn't a huge feat either.
::: Purchasing & Pricing Information :::
M.A.C. Plush Lash is available for $12 from M.A.C. counters and stores, as well as online. While it seems like a lot of money for a mascara, consider this: L'Oreal Full Definition Voluminous in a CVS store is $7.50. Diorshow is $23, and L'Oreal H.I.P. Volumizing Mascara is $9.99 in drugstores. Sorry, but I'm willing to pay a tad more for something I know works!
::: Recommendation :::
If you're looking for a great mascara that will live up to its claims, then you definitely want to get your hands on M.A.C. Plush Lash. Though it's not waterproof (which doesn't bother me one bit), it doesn't flake or smudge at all! No raccoon eyes to worry about! Your lashes will not only be long and have slight volume, but they'll also be nice and soft. Almost like your natural lashes were suddenly enhanced overnight!
Pros:Great mascara for length & volume; No smudging Cons:Slightly pricey; Tricky to use mascara wand at first
I was all eager to try this after a great review from Pursebuzz. I have used it under Maybelline Great Lash and NYX Doll Eye mascara. This stuff was a real let down. It didn't add any volume or length, didn't help hold my curl, and during the day bits of my mascara would flake off and collect on my nose and cheeks. I will not repurchase, and eventually took my tube back.
Pros:None Cons:Didn't work, made my mascara flake off onto my face
This stuff is awesome! As someone who has short lashes, this stuff gives serious volume and length. So if you want the long lashes you've been so envious of, this stuff is it.
Pros:makes lashes long
super black
good value for dollar Cons:the application stick feels a bit on the cheap side
I was disappointed in this mascara. It's not bad, but it's no better in my opinion than most of the mascaras that I buy in the drugstore. Some of them are a lot better, actually. My lashes are pretty long and thick and I get beautiful results with a lot of mascaras, but this ones seemed to make my lashes stand out less than they already do!! Even in the darkest shade, along with an eyelash curler. It also clumps and smudges easily, and burns my eyes bad if I don't remove it before I get wet.
Pros:nice pigmentation Cons:smudges easily, burns the eyes, didn't get good volume or lengthening.
I had hoped this would be my HG!!! It really does add length, and the color black is very rich. I just cant get this mascara to hold a curl. I curl with the shu, then apply 1~2 coats of mascara. This makes my lashes actually stick out straight, instead of keeping the curl. There is also a chemical smell that lingers for hours after the application.
Pros:Price, availability, does add length Cons:doesnt hold a curl, chemical smell
Nice mascara. I use the brown because black is too strong. Doesn't leave those nasty rings under my eyes at the end of the day. Wish there were more colors available on a regular basis.
Love this!!! Mascara is usually a nightmare for me. Most brands clump when I put it on (OK, some clumping is my fault, I'm too lazy to comb them) and by the mid afternoon I have raccoon eyes. This is the best I've tried. It makes my lashes feather (without combing them) and stays on all day. I use it on my daughter for her cheer and dance competitions and it stays on beautifully through the sweating, harsh. stage lighting and rubbing.(She hates wearing it so she rubs her eyes throughout the day) The only downside is that it is really hard to remove. I can get most of it off at night and whatever is left comes off in the morning.
I would have liked this to have made my lashes a little thicker but it does seem to help your mascara go on smoothly. I found it very easy to use and it is now part of my routine. Will definately re-purchase
I'm not sure what the problem is, but occassionally this product will irritate my eyes so badly that I have to take it off, other times its completely fine.
On top of that, I don't get any type of consistancy in application. It goes on clumpy and once I smooth out the clumps, my lashes just look messy and unruly.
Its a little counter-productive on me.
Me: NC43, GGG, Green Eyes, Jet Black Straight Hair, Combination/Sensitive Skin
I was hestitant at first to use MAC's prep/prime for lashes, but so far I've had very good luck with the product. It goes on smooth and not whitish like I had thought it would, but instead of waiting for it to dry, I would go ahead and place the mascara on top of the primer...
So far the results have been great though interesting to see how the primer works with an eyelash curler thrown in.
Since this is my first "mascara primer" I don't have a lot to compare it to, however I do feel that it has helped my mascara go on smoothly and not in clumps like I had experience before.
I do recommend the product for use though and feel that it has been a benefit to my makeup routine.
Pros:helps mascara go on smooth Cons:Not really thickening like I hope it would do
I didn't really find that this mascara did anything extraordinary for lengthening my lashes. It is okay as a basic mascara, but I can purchase a cheaper mascara to do that.
I love the way this mascara lenghtens and curls the lash. It helps give length to even my puny short lashes. I apply two or three coats and it doesn't clump. Has great staying power.
Review on: MAC - fiber rich mascara in whole brown
ehh. totoally unimpressed. its supposed to make your lashes look fuller/thicker but i really dont see a difference in my lashes. the color is nice but the rest of it just didnt work for me. i prefer super thick over the top WOW lashes and this was just ehh for me. i also found it to be clumpy. maybe wipeing a tissue over it before using will work better, but im not sure. i dont think i would buy this product again.
Pros:can return it to back to mac Cons:too many to list
This mascara contains little nylon fibers that attach to your
lashes, for a full & dramatic effect. I always make sure that
I carefully wipe excess product from the wand against the outer lip of
the tube, because it's very easy to apply too much! So if you're
careful when loading the wand, you won't have a problem with clumping.
Fibre
Rich comes in All Black, Whole Brown, UV (lavender!) and Botanical
(teal). I'm digging colored mascaras right now & love that
Fibre Rich gives me both color, length and thickness.
However, you want something a bit more natural, I'd try MAC's Zoomlash or Pro Longlash.
Pros:awesome thickening mascara, comes in multiple colors and is very affordable Cons:
