I used this sealant for the eyeliner on my lower lashline and i am so pleased it stayed all day. I also used it for my lipstick and it didnt make the color last that much longer.
Pros:great for eyeliner Cons:doesnt make lipstick last much longer than normal
This stuff was a gooey mess. I tried it on my eye shadow and my eyelids stuck together when I blinked. I tried it on my lips and it dried them out. It did work ok on my eyeliner, but I will not use it again.
I have always worn alot of black make up and i always had to keep fixing my eye's because i have very oily eye lids but with this product I still look as good in 8hr's as i did when i put on the eye makeup Love this product I wish there was more products out there like this one
I bought this product to use primarily with Benefit's Brow Zings and my lipstick. I have never had success with either of these lasting the entire day.
She-Laq works extremely well when combined with Brow Zings. I let the Brow Zings set for a minute, then using the brush attached to the lid, I apply She-Laq. I was very impressed as this product lasted all day, even through my evening workout.
She-Laq just worked "okay" with my lipstick. After eating and drinking, my lipstick was still there, but was not as intense looking as it was when I first applied She-Laq. Still, it looks much better than not using the product at all.
Overall, this is a good product that I will purchase again. I have not yet experimented with using it with other makeup (eye liner, mascara, etc.), so with that and the fact it just worked "okay" with my lipstick, I feel a 4 out of 5 is a fair rating. As mentioned, the lid has a brush attached, plus it also comes with 4 little brushes.
Review on: Benefit - she-laq
i apologize for the length of this review, but i wanted to be very thorough, and cover the use of shelaq with several products
i wish that the packaging of this was a bit more attractive, but i'll live. i like the brushes that come with, only for the fact that they save me from dipping my good brushes into the bottle. there is no reason to have the nail polish style brush attached to the cap.
I experienced a tight feeling on my lids, but i got used to it quickly. for me, it didnt burn, and wasnt uncomfortable. there was some shine, but not to the point that it was very noticable. it didnt taste unpleasant.
this product is a great big no go in terms of sealing an entire lid of e/s. if you have done a perfect smoky eye, or have faded the e/s past the crease, into a thin wash, applying shelaq will ruin the look. if you are going for a funkier look of one shade, thickly applied only on the lid, as long as it is fairly dark, this product is marginal.
overall, this is a decent product, perfectly suited to liquid liners, and darker powders. its ok for pencils, and unacceptable for cream products.
powders
nars night bird e/s: a few tones darker, shiny, stays put. absolutely will not budge, even if it gets wet.
mac e/s in electric eel: will not budge, wet or dry. perfect.
chanel daylight sun e/s (light lemon yellow) doesnt work. the brush picks up too much product to the point of removing it almost completely, when you apply the shelaq. not good for light e/s
MAC pigment: not suitable. smears into oblivion. it doesnt disapper completely like a light e/s, but it smears too much.
creams
hard candy cream e/s: hard to apply, seems to sit on top, like mixing oil and water. does not stay put.
nars cream e/s: applies well, does not set, and if you rub, it balls up.
revlon cream l/s: goes on nicely, and evenly. it did nothing in the way of setting it, and it felt like i applied nothing at all over it.
pencils
kryolan pencil kohl: this pencil is fairly greasy and smudgy to begin with. the shelaq did a marginal job of setting it. i tested this more than twice, and i let it dry longer. it does a good job, if you let it rest a while. it came off after 5 vigorous rubs, one way.
chanel triple color crayon: does not set at all. balls up immediately.
club monaco metallic e/l pencil: this is an extremely dry pencil, and shelaq did a good job of setting it. not great, but decent.
liquid liners
UD l/l in gash: no smudges when dry, a good amount of smudging when wetted. still acceptable
trucco baby pink l/l: perfect! no smudging at all, even when wetted.
trucco black l/l: no smudges when dry, smudges a bit when wetted. overall, good performance
other
loose glitter: did an ok job of setting. it comes off a bit with vigorous rubs. the main problem here is that it would pick up more glitter than it sets if you were to apply a heavy coat of glitter to the entire lid, like i often do.
mac paint in chartru: 100% perfection. it wont budge an inch, however, this product is very smudgeproof on its own
